Welcome! We are Scott and Brianne, a fun-loving couple married in November of 2007. With God as our guide, we are currently in the midst of navigating our way through life, love, family, and work in sunny Phoenix, Arizona. This blog is about marriage, pregnancy, babies, loss and grief, life-long learning, what God is teaching us, and the world as we see it one day at a time.
OUR FAMILY
THE MR.
Talking about myself isn't something I do well, so I would be better suited for a biography rather than an autobiography. That said, since I have no volunteers lining up to tell the world about me, I suppose I'll do it... Admittedly, I don't blog often, but when I do, I'm probably going to write about the things in life that define and mold me into who I am as well as the things that I love. So knowing those things will help you understand the driving force behind my writing...
First and foremost, I am a beloved child of God. This blows my mind every day, but before I am anything else, I am His. My identity lies in the fact that God is my Creator and He loves me enough that He wanted to restore a relationship with me... By His grace and through the love exhibited by Jesus Christ's suffering on the cross, He paid my debt and made a way for a sinful man to have a relationship with the perfect God of the universe.
Next, I am a husband. I am blessed to be married to the most beautiful, wonderful, caring, compassionate, talented, smart, selfless, and amazing wife I could've ever hoped for. I married my Jr. High sweetheart. I met her before 8th grade, and I knew we had a future together... it just took her longer to figure out. But now that she did, I get to spend the rest of my life spoiling her.
I am most recently a father. With the arrival of our newborn daughter, I am learning what it means to be a dad. Kaelyn didn't come with an instruction manual, but I'm figuring it out, alongside the most amazing baby mama ever! I have discovered a level of love for my daughter that I didn't know I was capable of. And I know there isn't anything I wouldn't do to protect her and be the best father I can be for her.
I'm also a son, a brother, an uncle, a friend, a coworker, a neighbor, and many other things. The things I am are derived from the relationships I have. The people in my life are what matter and what have the potential to create lasting impact now and into eternity. I love my family and my friends and have been unbelievably blessed to be surrounded by such amazing people.
I love music. I love listening to music practically constantly. I play percussion and drums and have a blast doing it. I love guns and shooting. The precise mechanics, the physics, the noise, the feel, the smell, the kick of the gun, the subsequent destruction on the other end of the muzzle, the skill required, the power contained that must be respected... it all fascinates me. I love video games. I have played them since I was a child and am still entertained by the escape that video games allow by letting me step into another world and immerse myself in it. I love my dogs. They were my kids before I had a kid for real and I get so much joy out of having them in my life. And I love reading, movies, cars, gadgets, camping, hiking, power tools, fire, military history, internet memes, and delicious food.

THE MRS.
Wife, sister, friend, auntie, musician, grad student in professional counseling and marriage and family therapy, and stay-at-home mama. I enjoy deep talks over Starbucks White Mochas (extra-hot, non-fat, light-whip in case you were wondering), learning about all things baby, movies, decorating, cinnamon rolls, playing the piano, singing, reading, campfires, puppy breath, and all things soft and snuggly.
My Favorite Things:
- God. I am in awe of Him - the creator of the universe - the lover of my soul. He inspires wonder, fascination... He is my friend, my guide. He gives me hope.. a future. He IS the future. He is trustworthy and fills my life with promise. I possess a heartfelt devotion and longing to know him wholly, completely, deeply, and grow in Him always.
- I love my husband. I love how he makes me feel secure, fulfilled, loved, warm, and adored. I love that he is strong emotionally and physically, and that he protects, guides, leads, and inspires me. I love that he is my best friend, partner, and companion. I love that we share passion, laughter, devotion, respect, and have fun together.
- I love people, relationships, friendships, family, and talking to others in a genuine and intimate way. I treasure open and honest relationships, and connecting with others brings me great joy.
- I love music and the way it makes me feel inside. I love how excited I get when a song comes on that I love. Music fills me with inner joy and has the ability to put me in another universe.
- Last, I enjoy the outdoors. I love the mountains, the forest, nature, the smell of thunderstorms, and staring at the endlessly deep and breath-taking ocean.
MISS K
- Likes eating, sleeping, and pooping (sometimes in that order, and sometimes all at the same time). Enjoys playing with toys, grabbing other babies' faces, throwing food on the ground, kisses, silly faces, music, bath time, books, walks, and laughter.
